The topic of this particular Online Seminar is��VTAC and Beyond.��So if you are in Year 11 or 12, this will be an amazing opportunity to hear from our current university students about their experiences applying for university, Equity Schemes (SEAS), Entry Schemes (such as the Monash Guarantee) and making plans for life after high-school – as it can be a challenging time !��

During the  Online Seminar, our team will be covering highly relevant topics of:

• How to make a VTAC application?
• How to apply for Equity Schemes (SEAS) and Scholarships?
• How to apply for Entry Schemes such as Monash Guarantee and Indigenous Entry Schemes?
• Providing students with a valuable��VTAC Cheat Sheet��which includes key information and dates you need to know for the upcoming VTAC deadline of the 29th of September 2025 at 5pm AEST

Jean has shown a remarkable level of commitment throughout his secondary school journey since arriving in the �ֲ���ý��Ƶ region. He�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s been strongly supported by Renae from the WSSC Careers Team, along with Education Support staff Grace and Nelson, whose guidance has played a key role in helping him reach his potential. Their support has made a significant difference in building Jean�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s self-belief, confidence, and sense of capability.

Head Start SBAT Coordinator Shane Crispin shared that the support from Reece Plumbing �ֲ���ý��Ƶ, Reece Head Office, and their Group Training partner, Murray Mallee Training Company, has been incredibly positive. Angus has said �ֲ���ý��Ƶ�It�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s great to have Jean as part of the team. He is coming out of his shell even answering the phones and serving customers on the front counter.

Jean said �ֲ���ý��Ƶ�I am learning a lot, and everyone has been so supportive.” Jean is backed by the unwavering support of his family, the guidance of Angus and the wider Reece Plumbing team, dedicated school staff, mentoring from Danny at Apprenticeship Support Australia, the expert WSSC Careers team, and ongoing support from the Head Start program. Congratulations, Jean, on this exciting next step!

From day one, Allie has shown the focus, attention to detail, and friendly nature essential to working in the fast-paced world of hair and beauty. Whether it�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s learning to perfect a blow-dry, understanding colour theory, or making clients feel welcome and comfortable, she is embracing every aspect of her apprenticeship.

Allie says she�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s looking forward to taking on more hands-on responsibilities as she progresses through her School Based Apprenticeship, eager to apply what she�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s learning from the team in the salon.

The best part was getting to chat directly with the people who build and own these machines: a highly modified Honda Civic race car and a tightly controlled, open-wheeled Formula V car. This face-to-face time was priceless.

The students weren’t just watching; they were asking questions and soaking up heaps of insider info. They learned about how air flows over the Formula V to keep it stable, the tough materials used in the Civic, and how tiny adjustments to the suspension make a huge difference.

The owners even talked about how they’re always solving problems and using data to make their cars perform perfectly. Seeing how eager the VET students were to talk to the car owners really showed how much they got out of it and how this experience connected their studies to the work of motorsport.

The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the value of interactive learning.

One student shared, �ֲ���ý��Ƶ�I really enjoyed using the mannequin provided for us to practice on and the hands-on use of equipment.�ֲ���ý��Ƶ� This experience not only deepened their understanding of theoretical concepts but also sparked greater interest in health-related careers.

Well done to the students who attended and represented the school so positively. You were highly motivated, engaged and respectful throughout the visit- a credit to both yourself and the school community.

Many Talents, One VCE: Understanding the VCE & VCE VM

Would you like to know more about the certificate your child is currently completing? Attend this session to learn about the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM). This will include what your child is required to complete to receive their certificate and the pathways that might follow. This session will cover the course structure at WSSC where VCE and VCE VM is completed over 3 years. It will also include some information about the VET certificates on offer at WSSC through the VCE and VCE VM.

Each garment in the installation represents a different career path available through the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), and is inscribed with a real student�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s aspiration for the future – from building and construction to early childhood education and digital design.

The students�ֲ���ý��Ƶ� stories featured in the campaign highlight how vocational education can empower young people across Victoria, not just in metro areas to pursue fulfilling, purpose-led futures.

Instigated by the Victorian Department of Education each garment is inscribed with a real career aspiration, and the students�ֲ���ý��Ƶ� stories are brought to life through personal reflections on their passions, goals and what vocational learning has unlocked for them.

These are students who have found clarity, purpose and confidence through practical learning. Some want to be nurses. Others, plumbers. One student hopes to drive trains across regional Victoria and �ֲ���ý��Ƶ�live the dream�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�. Their stories invite people to see vocational education in a new, elevated light and as an empowering path filled with opportunity.

After completing several hands-on work experience placements including time spent working on heavy highway trucks Blake�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s passion and commitment stood out. With the support of WSSC Careers Advisor Garry, he landed a placement with DOC Trucks, impressing the team so much that they offered him their first SBAT opportunity in the company’s history.

Thanks to a smooth transition supported by Shane Crispin (Head Start SBAT Coordinator) and Danny Howard (Apprenticeship Support Australia), Blake now works one day a week at DOC Trucks while studying a Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology through GOTAFE. He continues to balance his school and training commitments while gaining real-world skills and earning an income.

Blake says he loves the hands-on work and the family vibe in the workshop. DOC Trucks Manager Dylan O�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�Connor shared, �ֲ���ý��Ƶ�It�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s great to have Blake on board the team has really embraced him. Programs like Head Start SBAT are a great way to build the next generation of our workforce.�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�

The �ֲ���ý��Ƶ Senior Secondary College (WSSC) Careers in Industry Expo will be held in the school stadium on Thursday, 14th August. This event is designed to foster connections between students and industry representatives from across our local region.

The expo provides a valuable opportunity for students from both �ֲ���ý��Ƶ Middle Years College��and �ֲ���ý��Ƶ Senior Secondary College��to explore a range of career pathways, including casual employment, traineeships, apprenticeships, and options for further education.

Year 10 students

Once in the CIRV portal, you will be able to view information about the vaccine/s being offered as part of the school vaccination program.

1. Once in the portal, click next.
2. Enter your mobile number.
3. You will receive a text message with a 6 digit code �ֲ���ý��Ƶ� enter this code on the screen.
4. Confirm your child�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s school and Year level, if correct click next.
5. In the student details section, enter your child�ֲ���ý��Ƶ�s:

• First name
• Surname
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Medicare number
• Position on the Medicare card
• Indigenous status
• Address

6. Click next.
7. Provide consent for the vaccine. Click edit. Select yes granted, if you would like your child to receive the vaccine at school OR no denied, if you would NOT like your child to receive the vaccine at school.
8. As parent/consenter enter your details as follows:

• First name

• Relationship to student
• Mobile number
• Email

9. Click next.
10. Review the Pre-Immunisation checklist and enter any pre-existing medical conditions, severe allergies or previous reactions to vaccination. If there is none, please leave blank
11. Click next
12. Review all entered information and ensure it is correct.
13. Click confirm at the bottom of the screen.
14. You will receive a confirmation email. Please keep this as it has a confirmation code that you will need if you want to change/amend consent prior to the vaccination day.

The benefits of providing consent online:
